After a five year hiatus, The City of Coral Gables is bringing back the 4th of July fireworks to the historic Biltmore Hotel! A special thanks to key sponsor Bacardi U.S.A, and several others including Del Monte, The Collection, the University of Miami, and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. All of us at The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce are thrilled to have this celebration back in our City Beautiful!
The event begins Wednesday, July 4th, 2012, at 5:00 P.M. There will be a live concert at 7:00 P.M., by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band, which will no doubt put us in a patriotic mood to celebrate our country’s independence. Fireworks will begin around 9:00 P.M. Feel free to bring your own cooler, or take advantage of the concessions available to purchase on site. I previously wrote a blog on the Fuddruckers opening soon in the Village of Palmetto Bay, which can be found here, and I we have received such wonderful feedback from it that I decided it was time for an update!
The management tells us they are opening today at 11:00 am! We have been by the new restaurant; it looks great and has a wonderful atmosphere! My team and I are thrilled to have a Fuddruckers back in the area. We also received the new menu this particular Fuddruckers is offering, and it has some great new additions.
Of course there are the famous 1/4, 1/2, 1/3, and 1 lb burgers that I mentioned before, but they have included the “Exotic” section as well. You can find the traditional all beef patties, or you can find Kobe beef, Elk, Mahi Mahi, and Salmon burgers. They also have a number of new salads, soups, and platters. The bakery now includes strawberry cheesecake, tres leches, and a few other new desserts, and of course the famous milkshakes.

The time is here once again for the 5th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week. The event is being sponsored by Bacardi and Kendall Jackson. With over 30 restaurants participating, I have a feeling this will be the most successful year yet!
The event began last week with Taste of the Gables. Attendees were provided with dishes from 20 different restaurants, and were asked to pick their favorite. Don’t worry if you missed it, because the Coral Gables Restaurant Week actually lasts for a full two weeks! This event takes place from June 4 until June 17, 2012. I have already had the opportunity to join in the festivities courtesy of a few business luncheons with fellow Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce members.
Each of the participating restaurants will offer a three-course lunch and/or dinner menu catering specifically to the Coral Gables Restaurant Week. The Food Truck obsession in South Florida has officially taken over. Pinecrest Gardens has decided to help Food Truck Lovers in Pinecrest by holding a Food Truck Invasion once a month. Food trucks from all over South Florida, whipping up recipes from all over the world, allow us to have delicious and authentic food on the go. Not interested in cooking, or have a few picky eaters on your hands? No problem! The Pinecrest Gardens’ Food Truck Invasion has something for everyone! Some of the delicious entrees include, (but are certainly not limited to), pizza, gourmet waffles, monster burgers, gyros and even cupcakes! You don’t want to miss it! We’ve taken on 21 new listings, averaging one new listing a week; and closed 33 transactions, averaging one closing every five days. We love the activity, and so do our clients. Even with this success, we still have time for, and are always looking for more business
Our team’s activity is proof positive that the article in the Miami Herald on May 23, 2012, entitled “Real Estate Sees Jump from Slump”, is absolutely correct. I suspect we will be seeing more articles and comments about the market picking up substantially in South Florida.

Many of you will remember the Fuddruckers that was located on the corner of SW 104 Street, and US 1. For a number of years, that was the staple location for gatherings after little league games, school performances, and sporting events. When the Fuddruckers was converted to Amos Sports Grill, and later Betty’s Best Burgers, customers were heartbroken to learn that the building would finally close its doors permanently in 2011.
Not to worry burger fans, the “World’s Greatest Hamburger” is making a comeback! A new Fuddruckers has been in the works in Palmetto Bay for quite some time. Marcello and Berna Montalvan, of Vitafoods Enterprises, are opening three locations in South Florida within the year! Expected to open shortly, specifically the second week of June, the new location is on US 1 and SW 150 Street. This 7,600 square foot restaurant will seat approximately 220 customers, and will serve the same made-to-order 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, and 1 lb burgers that we all love so dearly.
With nearly 200 Fuddruckers locations in North America, and more than a dozen throughout the Middle East, we can certainly agree this chain has been successful from the beginning. Bringing a location back to the Pinecrest/Palmetto Bay area will be welcomed with open arms by all those who grew up loving the burgers, fries, and the freshly baked cookies that ended the perfect meal.

If you are looking for something to do on Sunday mornings and afternoons, you might want to take some time to explore the Pinecrest Gardens’ Farmer’s Market. Now open year round, every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., you will find all sorts of vendors set up. Fresh produce, spices, all things organic, and even guest artists set up shop to sell to their goods. Wonderful and fresh vegetables, jams, and honey have all made their way through this market. It is great family fun, and a perfect bike ride destination. The best part: admission is free!

I posted a blog recently about The Village of Palmetto Bay, and our turn key listing located at 14901 SW 87 Avenue. The market in the Village of Palmetto Bay is really on the rise! The market currently has a 6.2 month inventory. A healthy market contains a 6-9 month inventory. Anytime the market is below a 6 month inventory, we are in a seller’s market. This past April was a great month for Palmetto Bay! There were 39 pending sales, which is the largest number of pending sales for a one month span in over a year. This is up 25% from April of 2011. Inventory is much lower than this time last year. Inventory is down 41% from April of 2011, when we had 157 active listings. We now have 111 active listings in the area. This is the time to sell!
