There might not be much snow in Miami but that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to celebrate the winter holidays. Magic city becomes even more magical this time of the year, offering a treasure trove of activities for the whole family.
Here are some of our favorite family-friendly events in Miami this holiday season:
November 16 – January 7
Over the holidays, Tropical Park in Olympia Heights is transformed into Christmas Wonderland, which includes stunning holiday displays and light shows along with an array of thrilling carnival rides. Younger children will love Santa’s Village, where they can meet Santa and enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus. For the grown-ups, there’s a spectacular Cirque du Soleil-esque aerial performance and even a death-defying motorcycle show.
November 10 – January 7
When the sun goes down, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables turns into NightGarden! Harnessing advanced augmented reality technology, this immersive, illuminated experience will send you and your kids into a psychedelic fantasyland complete with technicolor flowers, motion-sensing technology, and awe-inspiring digital projections.
December 1 – December 23
The Miami Beach Holiday Festival of Lights celebrates an array of international holiday traditions through projection mapping displays to the tune of live classical music. Presented as part of the Miami Beach Classical Musical Festival, musical performances can be viewed at various locations around Miami Beach. Your kids can sing along with familiar holiday characters like Santa Claus, the Grinch, and even Elsa from Disney’s Frozen.
December 15 – December 24
Speaking of classical music, the Miami City Ballet is ready to get you into the holiday spirit with its acclaimed production of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. Featuring more than 100 world-class dancers, this enchanting production can be viewed at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in Downtown Miami. You’ll be whisked back to your childhood courtesy of the ballet’s iconic sugar plum fairies and waltzing flowers.
