Top Parks, Restaurants, and Shops in Pinecrest

Pinecrest is a quiet, tight-knit community where families often live for decades. In addition to its peaceful suburban atmosphere, what makes Pinecrest so attractive is its wide selection of recreational destinations. Families don’t have to venture very far to find great food, shops, and weekend activities.

With this in mind, here are some of the most popular parks, restaurants, and shopping centers in this rapidly growing, family-friendly neighborhood:

Top Parks in Pinecrest

Two of Pinecrest’s highest-rated parks are located right in the heart of the town. Just five minutes west from Pinecrest Elementary School is Pinecrest Gardens, a beloved community park with a botanical garden. Just over three miles away you’ll hit Evelyn Greer Park, which is known for its numerous beautiful walking paths and regular movie nights under the stars.

On the west side of Southern Pinecrest towards Kendall is the Suniland Park, another newly-renovated park with multiple athletic fields, a brand new playground and a recreation center. In Northern Pinecrest, you’ll find the 9-acre Coral Pine Park, a popular destination for tennis and pickle ball.

Top Shopping Destinations in Pinecrest

In terms of shopping, Pinecrest offers easy access a number of sizable shopping malls. Arguably the most popular is The Falls, located about five minutes south of Suniland Park. Here, you’ll find more than 100 upscale stores across a 55-acre open air experience surrounded by lush tropical foliage. If you head about 5-10 minutes up north towards central Pinecrest, you’ll be greeted by Suniland Shopping Center, a much smaller, single-story retail center.

For a more expansive shopping experience, just north of Pinecrest is Dadeland Mall, originally opened in 1962. Unlike The Falls, Dadeland Mall is completely enclosed, and it contains some large department stores as well as myriad high-end designer brands. If you’re just looking for essential destinations like Publix, Whole Foods, Target, Pinecrest Place in North Pinecrest (5 minutes from Coral Pine Park) has everything you need.

Top Restaurants in Pinecrest

Every parent deserves a night out, and Pinecrest has no shortage of top-notch restaurants. Located in the Dixie Belle Shoppes (a few minutes south of the Suniland Shopping Center) is Platea Miami, a sophisticated Peruvian steakhouse and ceviche specialist that regularly draws Micheline attention. Notable dishes range from foie gras dressed with orange passion fruit aju Amarillo and balsamic pearls to pan-seared bass with tomato ragu, brown butter and lemon foam.

Just five minutes down the street from Platea is La Boulangerie Boul’Mich Pinecrest, a French bakery with a Latin twist originally established in 1998. A popular weekend brunch spot, La Boulangerie Boul’Mich contains a wide selection of egg-based dishes like Benedicts, omelets and breakfast sandwiches.

In the mood for deep dish pizza? About five minutes South from La Boulangerie Boul’Mich is the Original Big Tomato, a neighborhood favorite since 1994 due to its homemade sauce and dough. For more upscale Italian fare, South Pinecrest has you covered once again with Anacapri, known for its cozy dining space and massive selection of fine wine. There’s also an Italian market where diners can purchase real Italian sauce, meats, cheeses, and homemade pastas.
