With that in mind, we wanted to share a helpful guide to some of Miami’s top private schools. That way, you can start narrowing down your search for your move.

Best Miami private schools

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart

Neighborhood: Coconut Grove

Grades: 3 – 12

Student-to-teacher ratio: 8:1

Yearly tuition: $46,000 for grades 7 – 12

Founded in 1961, the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart holds the distinction of being the only Catholic, all-girls Montessori college preparatory school in the state of Florida. They’re part of an international network of schools, all with a focus on academic excellence and fostering leadership and service. 

The Cushman School

Neighborhood: Little Haiti

Grades: PK – 12

Student population: 790

Student-to-teacher ratio: 7:1

Yearly tuition: $39,670 for grades 9 – 12

The Cushman School was founded in 1924 by Dr. Laura Cushman, and it is the oldest, continuously run, co-ed private school in the state of Florida. Over the years, the Cushman School has been recognized both for its challenging academic environment and for its diverse student body. 

Gulliver Prep

Neighborhood: Pinecrest

Grades: PK – 12

Student-to-teacher ratio: 8:6

Yearly tuition: $47,600 for grades 5 – 12

Gulliver Preparatory School serves more than 2,200 students at their four campuses across Miami—their PK – 8 campus is located at Coral Gables, Montgomery Campus and Upper Campus are both located in Pinecrest and the Upper Miller Campus is near Westchester. Gulliver is a very well-regarded school with the top ranking students each year regularly going to Ivy League colleges. 

Kendall Christian School

Neighborhood: North Miami

Grades: PK, K – 5:

Student-to-teacher Ratio: 10:1

Yearly tuition: $9,000 for grade 5

Kendall Christian School  is a private Christian elementary school. It was established in 1973 as an extension of Kendall Christian Ministries, to provide quality faith-based education to children. 

Sheck Hillel Community School

Neighborhood: Miami Beach

Grades: PK – 12

Student-to-teacher ratio: 12:1

Yearly tuition: $31,300

Founded in 1970, Sheck Hillel Community School has been empowering students academically while honoring their Jewish heritage and community. As a result it is recognized as one of the world’s leading Jewish community schools and has been named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. 

Roig Academy

Neighborhood: South Miami

Grades: PK – K, K – 8

Student-to-teacher ratio: 8:1

Yearly tuition: $36,025

Roig Academy is a small school, serving around only 100 students. However, this allows them to have an impressive student-to-teacher ratio of 8:1. They provide a fully bilingual Spanish/English curriculum for PreK – K students as well as K – 8 students in their International Baccalaureate Program.

Miami Country Day

Neighborhood: North Miami

Grades: PK – 12

Student population: 1,270

Student-to-teacher ratio: 9:1

Yearly tuition: $46,700

Miami Country Day School is an independent, nonprofit, learning community, providing top-tier education for their students. Originally founded in 1938 as a boarding school for boys, the school is now a co-ed academic environment for boys and girls and represents 26 countries. It is consistently ranked as one of the top high schools in Florida. 

Hebrew Academy RASG

Neighborhood: Miami Beach

Grades: PK – K, K – 12

Student-to-teacher ratio: 4:1

Yearly tuition: $28,980

Hebrew Academy RASG was founded in 1947 and has around 400 students enrolled in their PK – K and K – 12 programs, with an impressive student-to-teacher ratio of 4:1. They combine top-tier academic learning with the study of Judaic and Hebrew teachings, as well as an advanced college preparatory program.

Ransom Everglades

Neighborhood: Coconut Grove

Grades: 6 – 12

Student-to-teacher ratio: 9:1

Yearly tuition: $49,250

Ransom Everglades is one of the best private middle and high schools in Miami. They’re described as a college preparatory school and boast that 100% of their students attend a four-year college after graduation. With that quality comes the sticker price, as Ransom Everglades is also one of the most expensive schools in Miami, though financial aid is available.

Riviera Schools

Neighborhood: Coral Gables, Kendall

Grades: PK – 5 (Coral Gables), 6 – 12 (Miami)

Student-to-teacher ratio: 9:1

Yearly tuition: $35,250 for grades 6 – 12

Established in 1950, Riviera Schools comprises two campuses—the Riviera Day School covering grades Pre-K through grade 5 and Riviera Preparatory School covering grades 6 through 12. They’re a fully-accredited and non-sectarian day school with a proven track record of educational excellence and attention given to each student. 

Coconut Grove Montessori School

Neighborhood: Coconut Grove

Grades: nursery education (18 mos – 3 yrs), 3 yrs – 6 yrs, grades 1 – 5

Student-to-teacher ratio: 14:1

Yearly tuition: $12,000

Coconut Grove Montessori School is one of the least expensive private schools in Miami. Alongside their elementary education, they provide nursery education for children as young as 18 months as well as a Children’s House program for children ages 3 through 6. Using the Montessori method, Coconut Grove features a child-centered educational program designed for success.
