Why Families Love Living in Pinecrest

Miami-Dade County is full of beautiful communities, but few are more coveted by families young and old than Pinecrest. It’s quiet, safe, and homeowners often end up living there for decades. When you get into specifics – a.k.a. what’s actually inside Pinecrest – you can see that it gives families everything they’re looking for in a single neighborhood.

Here are a few reasons so many families love living in Pinecrest, Florida:

Top-Rated Private and Public Schools

Priority number one for new families is schools, and Pinecrest has a particularly high concentration of top-rated public and private schools. Gulliver Preparatory School is among the highest rated private schools in the state of Florida, and its two main campuses are located in Pinecrest: one on SW 88th Street, towards Dadeland and Kendall and the other just 10 minutes South of Gulliver Prep. Another similarly regarded school is Westminster Christian School, located on the border of Pinecrest and Palmetto Bay.

As for public schools, Pinecrest Elementary is located just five minutes up the road from Gulliver Prep. Other highly-rated public schools include Pinecrest Cove Preparatory Academy, which is part of the Westwood Lakes community, in between Kendall and Tamiami.

Wide Range of Real Estate

While the North side of Pinecrest is largely populated by luxury homes, Southern Pinecrest contains a wider range of real estate with more modest single-family residences. In Southern Pinecrest, you’ll typically find lower asking prices than places like Coral Gables, Brickell, and Cocoplum.

Plentiful Parks and Green Space

Another top priority for families is parks and green space. Just five minutes down the street from Pinecrest Elementary School is Pinecrest Gardens, a favorite community park with an amphitheater. Pinecrest Gardens also has a botanical garden and hosts multiple concerts and plays throughout the year.

If you head a little over three miles in the opposite direction, you’ll hit Evelyn Greer Park, which is known for its numerous beautiful walking paths and regular movie nights under the stars.

On the North side of Pinecrest, you’ll find the 9-acre Coral Pine Park, a popular destination for tennis and pickle ball.

Shopping, Dining, and Nightlife

Pinecrest’s location is an ideal balance between quiet streets and easy access to the hustle and bustle of the city. Downtown Dadeland, Downtown Gables, and South Miami are just a short drive away, giving families plenty of options for shopping and nightlife. Pinecrest is also located near both Miami International Airport and Miami Executive Airport, about 25-30 minutes to be exact (depending on traffic of course).
