Even though our temperatures are relatively mild all year long, there’s always something refreshing about spring and the opportunities it brings to freshen up our homes. The heavy heat of summer hasn’t yet set in, which makes working on outdoor projects a lot more comfortable.
So, take advantage of spring by forging ahead on some of these indoor and outdoor projects – and it never hurts to start early on some hurricane preparation either!
Take it outside
Spring is a great time to spruce up your landscaping, and you’ll boost your curb appeal to boot. Trim trees, shrubs, and bushes. Evaluate your ground cover and consider replacing any loose gravel with another material like bark, which is less damaging on structures in the event of a storm. And bring some color to your yard by creating a flower bed or arranging a variety of plants and flowers in pots. If you’re feeling brave, you could also freshen up with some new paint (a front door is an easy project to tackle in a weekend).
While you’re outside, it’s worth taking a preventative look at your roof too and making any repairs as needed. You should also check gutters and drains to make sure water can flow freely away from your home.
Interior refresh
If there’s ever a time when we might be more motivated to clean, it’s in the spring. Take advantage of any burst of spring cleaning fever you get and freshen up your space. Turn on some music, open the windows, and tackle some of those oft-forgotten spaces.
